The Irish Klezmer Suite
I am currently composing a series of klezmer pieces with Irish trad, jazz, dub reggae and other musical elements, for small ensemble of flute, violin, accordion, piano, trombone and double bass, supported by an Irish Arts Council Agility Award.
One of the pieces, the Crosshaven Nigun, was performed at From Kovno to Cobh - launch of Jewish Arts and Culture Ireland (JACI) in February 2023.
The full suite of 7 pieces
will be performed later in 2023, by the Irish Klezmer Ensemble,
which currently comprises:
Edel Sullivan - violin
Fabienne St Pierre - flutes
Ruti Lachs - piano accordion, piano, trombone
Pat Barrett - double bass
